A New Year

Hey all.

I thought it would be interesting to see what my goals for the last year were, and whether or not I managed to achieve them. Let's see:

1) Finally win a tournament at Alea rather than these 2nd-4th finishes

Yeah, done this no problem. I did win two back to back tournies at one point also which was nice.

2) Qualify for all Alea freerolls, and hopefully win one of the leagues

Yes on both counts. On one of the leagues I won £300 for finishing top. I then won the freeroll that went with it where I won a £1000 WSOPE package which included accomodation. Had myself an enjoyable few days in London, though unfortuantly no tournament success :(

3) Play at least one DTD £300 event

Yup. Think I played about 6 of them in the end. On all but one of them I had 50% of it staked.

4) Play more higher buyin freezeouts (£100-£200)

Played the Blackpool £100 a couple of times but quickly decided it was too much hard work. Have played most of the Gala £100 freezeouts as well as the DTD £150 a few times.

5) Play more cash games

Yes, though my success at these hasn't been great. I'm usually drunk whilst playing these lol

6) Make a profit

Yes

Overall it was a good year, and I had some decent cashs:

Chop in the Blackpool £100 for £2000. I wouldn't usually chop but we were being forced to a chip count in 20 minutes and this chop was generous for me.

2nd in the DTD £150 for £5.5k. No deals in this one.

4th in the DTD £300 Monte Carlo side event for £2.7k. No deals again. It was nice to finally cash in this event. What was even nicer (sorry to all previous stakers :() was that I had all of my action in this game.

I've also been doing reasonably well in the cheap local games.

Other plus points were the trip to London to play the WSOPE £1000 game. But perhaps the main success of the year has been my ability to secure staking in every event I have wished to play in. I was very pleased when I posted my £1000 Monte Carlo staking thread towards the end of the year and had sold £500 of it within 2 days. Ideally of course one day I'll have enough of a roll to not need to do this, but it's obviously a good thing having this option open to me.

My main dissapointment of the year was that after selling my action for the Monte Carlo I had to pull out at the last minute :( Hopefully next year DTD will run a similar structured tournament that I can play in.

My goals for the next year then:

1) Update blog more often
2) Play the DTD £300 every 2nd month.
3) Play 1 £1000 event. Hopefully DTD run another similar to the Monte Carlo.
4) Play less cheap casino games
5) Arrange more home games
6) Make more profit!
